  • Question
My new kitten falls asleep on my bed, but I'm afraid I'll hurt her when I'm sleeping because I move a lot. I need to move her to her bed, but she keeps waking up, how can I do it?
    Community Answer
To move a sleeping cat, I find that slipping both hands underneath and spreading them to keep the cat in as close to the same position as possible usually works. She is probably sleeping with you because you are warm and cuddly like her mother. Try putting a hot water bottle in her bed before moving her to it!
  • Question
I always put my cat on my bed to sleep, but he always leaves I want him to stay with me. What can I do?
    Community Answer
You can't force a cat to stay with you. They may want to use the litter box or to eat. Cats are very independent.
  • Question
How can I make my kitten comfortable with humans, when she doesn't like when people touch her?
    Community Answer
Treat your kitten in a gentle and soothing manner, and be patient. She may not be used to humans yet.

Yes, classical music is best as it is calming and slow-paced. "Clair de Lune" by Claude Debussy works well.
  • Question
My kitten is always going where I would prefer him not to go. Is there any way to teach them not to go to specific areas of the house?
    Community Answer
The only way to stop them from going in certain areas is to use pet fences to block off those areas from the rest of the house.
  • Question
Can I let my kitten sleep on my bed or does she need her own bed?
    Community Answer
You could give your kitten her own bed, but in general, they like to sleep wherever they feel most comfortable, so your kitten may prefer to sleep with you in the end.
  • Question
I have a new kitten and she always has energy and I can't get her to bed. I feed her and give her a warm bed and the doctors say nothing is wrong. What do I do to make her chill out and sleep?
    Community Answer
Try to provide your cat with plenty of ways to expend its energy during the day. Some cats, particularly kittens, require more activity and stimulation. As you get to the time of day when you'd like your cat to be sleeping, try employing some of the tips in this article (calm petting, warm food, etc.) to help your kitten wind down. Try to avoid doing things that will excite your kitten around bedtime.
