Use your elbow to give your thumb a break. Roll your elbow into the meaty part of your other hand, below the thumb. This saves the thumb you were using to massage with from over-exerting itself, which can hurt you.

A hand massage can be as long or as brief as you'd like. Hand massages are very easy to do almost anywhere, so you could give yourself a quick massage on the bus to work, or while talking with a collegue, or just sitting at home watching television.
  • Question
How do I prevent hand cramps? Will hand massage be of help?
    Community Answer
Hand massage could help. Also, when writing for a long period of time, make sure to take quick breaks and stretch your hand and wiggle it. Give your fingers a couple of moments to relax and then get back to writing.
  • Question
I had a professional hand and arm message, and the next day my hand is swollen, sore, and bruised. Is this normal?
    Community Answer
No, this isn't normal. You should go to the doctor and have your hand examined, and also call the spa or salon you went to and get a refund.
