  • Question
How can water be carried to the moon?
    Community Answer
You bring it in bottles or a water tank.
  • Question
What happens if I have to go to the bathroom when on the way to the moon?
    Community Answer
The body suit worn on the mission is designed to take care of such emergencies. Moreover, the diet of everyone on board is strictly controlled weeks and months ahead of the launch. So the mission control even knows how much of that would be coming out in your 'bathroom'.
  • Question
How many days have people spent on the moon?
    Community Answer
The Apollo astronauts spent 22 hours on the moon, which is about average.
  • Question
Why don't more countries go to the moon?
    Community Answer
Well, there's nothing much to be gained by going to the moon, now. It's expensive and we can't bring any valuable resources back. We just wanted to prove it could be done, and now we've done it.
  • Question
Are private citizens allowed to go to the moon?
    Community Answer
SpaceX sells tickets to go around the moon, but not on the surface yet. Maybe we'll get there one day soon.
  • Question
Can I go to the moon with help from NASA?
    TomPN
    Top Answerer
As a private citizen, you are better off asking SpaceX for help instead of NASA. SpaceX is already selling seats for trips around the moon, so it isn't much of a stretch that they could take people to the surface of the moon as well.
  • Question
Why has no one been to the moon in the past 25 years?
    TomPN
    Top Answerer
There isn't any real value in going to the moon. It's expensive; you have to keep your astronauts alive, so it's even more expensive; your rocket has weight limits, so you can't take much with you or bring much back; any science you want to do on the moon can be done by much cheaper drones.
  • Question
    How much will it cost?
    Community Answer
It can cost hundreds of thousands of dollars to go to the moon.
  • Question
I have no money but I want to travel to some planet?
    Donagan
    Top Answerer
Interplanetary travel will be very rare and prohibitively expensive for the foreseeable future.
  • Question
Is it visible from Earth if massive meteors hit the Moon's surface?
    Donagan
    Top Answerer
Yes, with a telescope, possibly even without one, depending on size.
  • Question
What is the temperature on the Moon?
    Donagan
    Top Answerer
Depending on location on the lunar surface and time of lunar day or night, the temperature on the Moon can range from minus-424° F. to +250° F.
  • Question
What if you land in the sea?
    Donagan
    Top Answerer
There is no water -- no seas -- on the Moon's surface.
  • Question
Will there will be time loss when the rocket goes to the back side of the moon?
    Startrekker
    Community Answer
Yes, communication loss will happen, unless there is a network of satellites in lunar orbit to relay the data.
  • Question
I'm still confused. What is a launch window?
    Startrekker
    Community Answer
The launch window is a time period in which the rocket needs to be launched to reach its destination.

  • Question
How much is a moon rock worth?
    Community Answer
A federal US court set the value of the moon rocks at $50,800 per gram, based on how much it cost the U.S. government to retrieve the samples between 1969 and 1972.
  • Question
What are the things I need when going to the moon?
    Frank Austad
    Community Answer
Your own oxygen in a decent space suit; at least enough food for the trip; a copilot is a nice idea; lots of absorbent underwear (also known as diapers); radio to speak to your flight crew; a flight manual with everything you need for a safe trip; a couple photos of your family that you toss into a crater like that guy who played Neil Armstrong in "First Man" did!
  • Question
Is it the same steps to send a Rover to the moon?
    Community Answer
No, a rover doesn't need to pack oxygen, because it doesn't breathe. It also doesn't need to pack food, or anything really.
  • Question
If there's nothing significant to be gained from going to the Moon, why do it?
    Community Answer
We don't yet know that there's nothing significant to be gained, as the Moon has not been fully explored, and every decade introduces new technological advances for research and study. Each trip reveals new scientific data that can't be obtained any other way; for example, in 2008 India's Chandrayaan-1 discovered water on the Moon. It's also rich in magnesium, aluminium, silicon, iron and titanium, resources that may one day be able to be cost-effectively mined. NASA is currently considering a lunar-orbital space station that can be used as a staging area for further travels.
  • Question
Is the Moon made out of cheese?
    Community Answer
It isn't; that is an old folklore based on people not knowing what the Moon was made of, coupled with its resemblance to a cheese wheel. Neil Armstrong, Edwin Aldrin and Michael Collins proved that it is mostly natural cement and silicon.
