    Expert Answer
Bare root plants are often shipped in a dormant state. You plant is likely dormant not dead.
  • Question
My rose plant is not absorbing water -- why might this be?
    Community Answer
You are either watering it too much or it's not getting enough sunlight in a day for the water to evaporate quickly. Another possibility is soil with poor absorbency.
  • Question

    Community Answer
It is best to use an organic, neem-based pesticide. Proprietary, ready made products are available in the market. Mind the dose while applying; it's written on the pack.
  • Question
Can I bring my roses inside at room temperature for the winter?
    Community Answer
Yes, as long as the roses are brought in with caution, you don't want to shock your plant. The roses must always have a source of light, either sunlight from a window, or a heatless lamp.
  • Question
WhensShould I prune my potted roses?
    Community Answer
Roses should always be pruned in order to promote new growth. Ideally, do this around the end of February.
  • Question
How often should I water miniature indoor roses?
    Community Answer
This totally depends on the weather -- water when the surface of the soil feels dry. If they are in a location where they get a lot of sun and no rain, maybe every day. It also depends on the size of the pot and the ability of the soil to hold water. Mulching the top will help the plant to retain water.
  • Question
How do I prevent ants from eating my rose plants?
    Community Answer
If pesticide is not an option, you might want to consider garlic or lavender.
  • Question
The roses initially were big, but now they are very small. How can I make them big again?
    Community Answer
Cut a healthy rose stem about 15 to 18 cm long, with a minimum 4 to 6 mm diameter. Plant it in a new pot with organic fertilizer such as cow dung or compost.
  • Question
What small varieties are best for pots in semi shade?
    Community Answer
Most miniature roses are okay with four or five hours of sunlight a day, but that also means they might be more prone to fungal diseases, so they do require more maintenance and grooming.
