    Expert Answer
Yes, but it's definitely possible! If you want to hit a home run, you'll need to have a more exaggerated load, or momentum, than if you were just trying to hit the ball to get on base. That way, you'll have a more explosive swing so you'll be able to apply more force to the ball.
  • Question
What can I do if I am a lefty and the pitchers throw outside to me?
    Donagan
    Top Answerer
Any batter, left or right handed, can swing at an outside pitch and hit the ball to the opposite field. You're just as likely to get a hit to the opposite field as you are to your power field. The ball just may not go as far.
  • Question
What if I'm up against a good pitcher?
    Community Answer
If it is a good pitcher, look and see where the ball releases. Wait until you get a strike to see the speed of the ball and where you need to hit it. Don't be afraid to swing your bat as hard as you can and follow through.
  • Question
As a contact hitter with a .817 average, how do I increase my power without hurting my average?
    Community Answer
Only try to hit home runs when the outfielders are playing in on you, that way if you hit it deep but not far enough they won't be able to run it down and you'll still get on base.
  • Question
Do I have to sweep the bat down in order to hit a home run or can I hit regularly?
    Donagan
    Top Answerer
If you swing down, you're less likely to hit an over-the-fence home run. Some hitters swing up if they're trying to hit a home run but this could increase the risk of a pop up.
  • Question
Any tips on how to regain hitting confidence?
    Community Answer
Practice with a friend. Friends will be encouraging and make it more fun.
  • Question
What if you are scared of the ball?
    Community Answer
Ask your coach if you can try catching. When you return to your normal position or the batter's box, you'll be less scared.
  • Question
Does it matter how fast I swing the bat when batting in softball?
    Community Answer
Yes, the faster you swing, the harder you will hit the ball if you connect. So if you want the ball to go far, you have to swing the bat fast.
  • Question
I keep swinging down - any advice?
    Donagan
    Top Answerer
Take a longer stride with your front leg.
  • Question
What can I do to not get out when hitting a home run?
    Community Answer
Hit the ball over the fence. This will allow you to run as slow as you want around the bases with no threat of getting out.
  • Question
How can I just get a hit?
    Community Answer
You should hit off of a tee and ask your coaches to give you extra batting practice pitches. If a bat is too heavy, choke up on the bat, or try using another bat. Also, if you can time up the pitcher, it can help.
