I found a spider in our garden that had physical characteristics of the orb spider but had the zigzag in the web like the Hawaiian one. Do the golden orb spiders also spin the zig zag?

I took a picture of a spider and posted it on Facebook asking for identification. The responses were banana spider and writing spider, but I am in Kentucky. Could banana spiders be this far north?

Yes, I grew up in Ohio and saw plenty of the Yellow Orb Spider that is commonly called "banana spider." Note that the poisonous "banana spider" does not spin a web, and tends to be more brown than yellow.

Found web on banana with babies would they hatch here in England?

If you're able to grow bananas in your sunny, hot part of England, then it's likely they'll hatch. But they are not aggressive at all. I had few of them at my garden in Philippines and they just hang in their web and waiting for some hapless fly to come by.
