How can I improve laptop performance with Windows 10?
    Community Answer
Open an elevated Command prompt window and type in chkdsk/f. Type 'y', then restart your PC. The system will then check your hard disk for any errors. This will take a while, so do it when you do not need to work on your PC.
  • Question
How can I increase the RAM in my laptop?
    Community Answer
Go online or to a computer shop and buy more sticks of RAM. You can probably pay a computer shop to put in the RAM for you, because I wouldn't be able to instruct you without knowing exactly what kind of laptop you have.
  • Question
How do I improve my laptop's RAM if there's no RAM slot and no physical RAM on the system?
    Community Answer
If you cannot physically change your RAM stick(s), you can always change certain settings to make your laptop have peak performance. You can do this by deleting unnecessary programs and software from your hard drive, upgrading all your drivers, and disabling software you do not need on startup.
  • Question
I have 4GB of RAM with 3.71 usable. I need 3.75 usable for a work-at-home job requirement. How can I fix this?
    Community Answer
Unfortunately, the operating system and other components of the computer need a specified minimum amount of RAM to function, and that can't be altered. Also, if you were using exactly 100% if your memory, it wouldn't take long before it caused long term problems.

Whilst both are a form of storage, RAM is completely different than a memory card (or SD card). RAM is a volatile memory that loses all data when powered off, its synched with clock speed and communicates directly with the CPU during the FETCH-DECODE-EXECUTE cycle. However, there is a method of using the hard disk on the PC as a sort of pager memory––this is incredibly slow compared to RAM, which is designed for fast transfer. but can be done. this is done by your OS. I will advise that attempting to play games without the right specs of hardware will not work very well if at all. Pager files are there as a backup when the RAM overflows, and should not be relied on.
  • Question
Can laptops come with an memory slot on the side of them? Mine has one that says you can put one in the ad slot.

Then you can do as it states. Some don't need extra memory since it is not a business machine in some large corporation. Some laptops already come with 4GB in memory. Adding extra memory is like backup to running large video game files.
