  • Question
When should I install window insulation film?
    Community Answer
Mid to late fall. Make sure it's before winter as the cold will produce more moisture!
  • Question
If I want to reuse the film, can it be 'relaxed' in any way?
    Community Answer
No. Once the film shrinks, it stays shrunk. If you want to reuse the film, you can apply it carefully, stretching it to remove wrinkles and skip the hair dryer step. You can then remove the film and tape when warm weather returns. You will need to carefully fold the film and put in a container to keep it clean. I have tried this and have not been pleased with the results; better to just get new each season.
  • Question
Does the film stick to my window?
    Community Answer
It covers the window to create an extra protective layer from droughts, and an extra layer to keep heat in.
  • Question
How long does it take to blow dry?
    Community Answer
    It takes about 30 hours.
  • Question
Is it necessary to shrink the film with a blow dryer?
    Community Answer
It's not necessary, but it's very difficult to eliminate all the wrinkles just by stretching it tight while placing it on the tape. Shrinking it with a blow dryer will eliminate the wrinkles and make it much nicer to look at.
  • Question
Why does the sheet have 2 layers? When I cut, one layer is not stuck to the tape. Can I use 1 layer only?
    Community Answer
You have to separate the films. Kits usually come with several films so you can do a few windows. So yes, you have to separate; you can't apply two films.
