  • Question
When running windows in oracles VM, how do I access my files not kept in the virtual drive?
    Community Answer
You can open your file explorer inside the VM, and then go into your C: drive and find the files in there, as the C: drive is the computer's main folder. Alternatively, you could move the files into the VM's drive.
  • Question
Is it possible to run Windows on VirtualBox without an ISO image?
    Community Answer
If you have an installation disk, you do not need an ISO image. If you are talking about installing, you need an ISO image or an installation disk. But once it's installed, you do not need the ISO.
  • Question
How to move file from virtual box to a real PC?
    Community Answer
Drag and drop if it is enabled. Most of the time, it might not be enabled for security reasons (e.g. VirtualBox has an exploit where the mouse can move outside the guest OS and into the host OS).
  • Question
If I run a virus in the virtual machine, will it affect my normal computer?
    Community Answer
If networking, drag and drop to host (unless you need it), and all shared folders are disabled.
  • Question
How do you install guest additions for the VM?
    Community Answer
Insert the VirtualBox guest additions iso as a CD-ROM disc in the VM and run the installer.
  • Question
How do you transfer files from your host computer to your Windows 10 guest virtual machine by shared folders?
    Top Answerer
Shared folders show up as a network drive. Just go to the Shared Folders section of the VM settings in VirtualBox, and click the folder icon with a plus (+) sign on it. Select the folder you want to share, and check the Auto-mount and "Make Permanent" boxes (for ease of use). The drive will show up almost immediately under "This PC" in the File Explorer. Put the stuff you want to share in the folder, and it will show up in the drive in the guest.
