  • Question
Will vinegar kill mushrooms in my yard like it does weeds?
    Community Answer
Mushrooms can be killed by something having a pH level of 1 or 1.2. Vinegar is weaker than that, so it wont kill the mushrooms. However, I can recommend raw acetic acid.

    Milorganite works great.

Remove the mushrooms immediately by pulling them up or by mowing. Otherwise the spores will spread. Also, when they die, they will leave black marks on the grass.

  • Question
How do I kill mushrooms without killing my plants?
    Community Answer
Dig or pull the mushrooms out by hand (wearing gloves). That way you don't need to touch any plants you'd like to stay in place.
  • Question
How do I kill fungi that is growing on an old tree root?
    Community Answer
You could either get rid of the old tree root, so the mushrooms will go too. Or, you could just leave the mushrooms alone and they will eventually decompose the tree root for you, they are nature's miracle decomposers. If you're concerned about children or pets accessing the fungi, fence off the area.
