    Expert Answer
Keep it clean! Cycle your water out regularly and keep algae from building up. It won't necessarily make a ton of difference to your fish, but it will make your tank a lot more pleasing.

You really don't want to leave fish in a tank without anything else in it. Animals need hiding places, and your fish will be much happier if they feel safe in the tank.

I'm a fan of soaking decorations in Clorox and water. Use like 1-2 cups of Clorox and 30 gallons of water. Soak them overnight, and then rinse them off. Then, soak them in dechlorinator and water. Take them out, spritz them with hydrogen peroxide, and let them dry in the sun.
  • Question
What decorations are safe for African dwarf frogs?
    Community Answer
Since these frogs like to stay at the bottom, live plants are preferable, as they are not sharp. Plastic plants can cut the frog's delicate skin.
  • Question
Can I put glass coloured pebbles in the tank?
    Community Answer
Yes, the substrate can be some colored pebbles or marbles.
  • Question
How do I get male and female guppies? How many do I put in a 20 gallon tank?
    LeahlovesGod
    Top Answerer
You can do an online search for aquarium stores nearby. If you are only adding guppies, you may want to start with about 4-8 of them, since they breed and multiply quickly. You could also add some "middle-dwelling" fish, such as tetras or danios and a few cory catfish (corydoras) as well.
  • Question
What are those types of fish in picture 8?
    LeahlovesGod
    Top Answerer
They are White Skirt Tetras. They are a fairly common fish at larger fish stores.
  • Question
What type of water should I use?
    Lily
    Community Answer
The type of water you use for your aquarium setup depends on the type of fish you have in it. Saltwater fish should go in salt water, and freshwater fish should go in fresh water. Never mix the water types, and never put the wrong type of fish in the wrong water!
  • Question
How to know if my gold barb is a male or female?
    Community Answer
Females are duller in color and more stocky. Males are brighter and more streamlined/thinner. Males also tend to be smaller than females.
