  • Question
I have a plain black backpack and I don't know how to paint fabric. I was thinking of putting some cute badges on my bag. Can anyone tell me where I can get them?
    Community Answer
Typo in my area is selling some really awesome fabric sewable tags/badges. Most people use these for the plain fabric pencil cases, but I've used them for my school bag this year and it turned out to look adorable! Alternatively, you could use fabric paint or even applique.
  • Question
Can I put stickers on my backpack?
    Community Answer
You could try, but if your backpack is made of cloth or a cloth-like material, they probably will fall off.
  • Question
Will the fabric paint stay even after I wash the backpack?
    Flutasmoradas
    Community Answer
You would have to check the instructions on the fabric paint. If the instructions are followed properly, then the paint should stay on.
  • Question
How can I print a picture to put on my backpack?
    Emma Anderson
    Community Answer
Print out your favorite image on transfer paper. Put it on your backpack, and iron it on. (Follow the instructions that come with the transfer paper.) Note: this may not work with backpacks that have textured fabric.
  • Question
I put badges and pins on my backpack, but some fell off (I already lost two at my school). Is there a way to keep them on my backpack?
    Community Answer
You could glue your pins and sew your badges to your backpack. Other than that, there is always the risk they'll pop off when knocked against things as you carry the bag around and put it down in different places.
  • Question
I can't buy a backpack because my mom won't let me. And the backpacks I have are already like have patterns and are really expensive. What should I do?

Visit a charity store and get one for a really cheap price, or ask friends if they have any they don't want anymore and get one for free. That way, you can practice designs on it and see how it looks and it won't have cost you very much. Don't change the expensive backpacks or your mom will probably be disappointed. Instead, experiment with the cheap of free ones to your heart's content and then you'll have a range of different backpacks to take to school!
  • Question
I want to add a decorative fabric to the outside of my bag. Am I able to do that?
    Otterly Badgerific
    Top Answerer
Absolutely, you can do that using fabric glue. Consider whether you want to add the fabric as sections on the backpack or as actual shaped designs, such as using stencil designs to cut out shapes from. Use a good quality fabric glue to adhere to the backpack. Fabric Mod Podge is a good choice that can be used over the top to seal the designs as well as stick them on.
  • Question
How do I decorate my bag with pride symbols?
    Otterly Badgerific
    Top Answerer
You could use fabric paint - trace the pride symbols on, then paint using rainbow fabric paint colors. Or, you could purchase pride patches that can be either ironed-on or sewn on, depending on the fabric/heat tolerance of your backpack. If these options are not available to you, try adding key rings and other hanging items that represent pride designs from the zippers or cord attachments of your backpack.
  • Question
I have a black backpack that I want to use some paint on but it will not show. What should I do?
    Otterly Badgerific
    Top Answerer
Try using neon/fluorescent or metallic paint that is suitable for the fabric type of your backpack. These colors will definitely show up on a black background. White will also show up but you will need to be careful with the designs chosen to make that look good, such as snowflakes or unicorn heads.
  • Question
I wrote my name on my backpack with permanent marker, but other people think it's weird and now I want to get it off. What should I use?
    Otterly Badgerific
    Top Answerer
Unfortunately, permanent marker tends to be... permanent. You could try cutting a piece of fabric similar in color to the backpack and using fabric glue to glue it over the writing. Do this neatly, cutting the fabric to fit the space of the backpack from one side to the other. Or, you could use iron-on or sewn patches to cover up the name area. As a last resort, upgrade to a new backpack, if you can afford it.
  • Question
I have a black and pink Puma backpack, and the quality of the bag is amazing! I love it so much, but it's a little bland for my liking. Can I use fabric pens on my backpack? Where can I find some?
    Community Answer
Patch style is popular. Put a lot of patches of your liking with different shapes and sizes in the corner of the bag in the front and it will make the bag look super cool.
  • Question
My backpack is super glittery and I don't really like all of the glitter. I want to make the glitter look cute with some decorations. Any thoughts on how?
    Community Answer
Use batches of different shapes and sizes to make it super cool. Also, a long beaded keyring can be used.
