    Expert Answer
Bruises start out as black or purple. Then they transition to green, and then yellow. From yellow, they slowly transition back to a peachy color. If you're going for an older-looking bruise, something peachy or yellow is going to be your best bet.

  • Question
Can someone explain how tricking people into thinking that you're injured is funny? It seems rather cruel and unnecessary.

  • Question
I fell down the stairs and my foot/leg/ankle really hurts, but it didn't make a mark. If I do this the night before and go to the doctor's the next morning, will it come off if the doctor rubs it?
    Community Answer
It it's bothering you enough to see a doctor, there's no need to try and make a fake bruise. A trained medical professional will easily be able to tell the difference. Simply tell the doctor what sort of pain you're in. If you don't have an injury, you don't need to see a doctor. Taking up the time of medical professionals with fake injuries is irresponsible.
  • Question
How do I keep the bruise on for at least three days?
    HumanBeing
    Top Answerer
A real bruise would change over three days, usually by fading. You would need to reapply your bruise to fake it for three days.
  • Question
Can I say my dog bit or scratched me? How can I actually make the fake bruise look like that?
    Community Answer
You probably shouldn't say that your dog caused it. Some people may find this alarming, and your dog might get in trouble. Blending the colours and not having hard lines helps. Also, using the right colors is very important.
  • Question
What should I say caused it?
    HumanBeing
    Top Answerer
If you want to have a fake bruise, you can just make one. You don't have to have a story about how you got it. It's pretty common for people to find real bruises and not know how they got them. You could say you got bruised slipping, for example; it depends where you put your bruise how you claim to have sustained it.
  • Question
How do I get the fake bruise off?
    HumanBeing
    Top Answerer
Washing your skin with warm water and soap should remove maker pen, pencil lead, make up or face paint. Marker pen will be the hardest to remove; if soap and water don't work, try eye makeup remover.
  • Question
How do I get into my mom's eyeshadow?

Find out where she keeps it, and use it when she's not there.
  • Question
I need a bruise on my eye, but I am not allowed to wear makeup. What techniques should I use?
    HumanBeing
    Top Answerer
Wearing make up for a practical reason is different from wearing it for vanity, so ask again for permission from whoever it is that won't let you wear it. If you are still not given permission, use face paints instead.
  • Question
How can I make a very large bruise?
    HumanBeing
    Top Answerer
A very large bruise isn't very likely to look realistic, but follow the instruction in the article. Bruises are usually darker in the center and get paler toward the edge; on a large scale, doing this realistically could be tricky. Remember, too, bruises don't come up straight away. If you want to make a large fake bruise, people will be more curious about how you got it, you'll need a good story to explain a large injury - and it'll have to something that no one saw happen.
  • Question
If I apply hair spray over the eyeshadow bruise, how long will it last?
    Community Answer
It should last until you shower next, if you aren't sweating a lot. Maybe 3-4 days.
  • Question
I only have a pencil, but I have a yellow bruise on my leg already (it's real) - will this work?
    HumanBeing
    Top Answerer
Having an existing bruise on your skin does not prevent you creating a fake bruise following any of these methods, and would add realism to it. If your old yellow bruise is still tender, however, applying your fake bruise might be uncomfortable.
