  • Question
Do I have to use origami paper? Would it still fold nicely even with regular printing paper?
    Community Answer
Origami paper is thinner than most other paper, and would fold much more easily than writing paper. Gift tissue might work if it's not too soft.
  • Question
Is there a simpler way to do this?
    Community Answer
Not really. Take your time and try to follow the instructions step by step.

How do you make an easy origami Christmas tree?

Take a square piece of paper and lay it on a flat surface with the color side facing down. Fold the paper in half diagonally to create a crease and then open it back up. Then, bring the top left and right corners into the center so the edges of the paper line up with the crease. Flip the paper over and fold the left and right corners in so the top edges line up at the center. Turn the paper back over and fold it in half by bringing the bottom corner up to the top. Finally, fold 2/3 of the top corner back down so it hangs over the bottom of the triangle and fold about 1/3 of the trunk up to make a flat bottom.

Place a square piece of paper color side down and fold it diagonally in both ways to create creases. Open the paper back up and fold it in half vertically and horizontally to form more creases. Then, take 2 opposite corners and bring them into the center to collapse the paper into a neat square. Fold the corner of the top flap into the center and use your finger to open it up and then press it flat against the square. Repeat the motion for each of the other folds to open them up and form a tree shape.
  • Question
How do you make an origami Christmas tree out of money?
    Drew Hawkins1
    Community Answer
Lay the money flat on a surface, fold it in half diagonally to make a crease, then unfold it. Take the top left and right corners and bring them into the center so they're lined up with the crease. Flip the money over and fold the left and right corners in so their top edges line up with the center. Then, turn the money back over and fold it in half by bringing the bottom corner up to the top. To make the stand, fold about 2/3 of the top corner down and then fold about 1/3 of it back up to make a flat bottom.
