    You can protect the floor by using a plastic drop cloth. It does not bleed through and also prevents dust from getting through. So it is easier to clean up.

    I always start with the cut ins, which are the areas where a roller can't go—the corners, edges, and where the top of the wall meets the ceiling. That's the most intensive part of painting, so it's best to do it while you're the freshest, rather than when you're tired at the end of the job.
