If you're willing to invest some money, head to Sephora. They have a color matcher that will show your skin tone and show you what you would wear in every foundation, bb cream, and concealer the store sells. From there, you can pick one that would go with your skin type. Make sure you get a setting powder to set everything in. Some more tips: Try not to get a dewy foundation finish if you have oily skin. You can invest in a toner that will even out her skin. If she has any unevenness she doesn't like, she can try color correcting.

For the most part, moisturizers from higher-end brands, such as those sold at Sephora and Ulta, are much more effective than drug store moisturizers - and the employees at those stores can help guide you toward the right one for your skin. However, there are some good drug store options as well. CeraVe is a very good, affordable brand that even many dermatologists use and recommend.

I am entering menopause, and I need new foundation. My skin is both oily and dry, and prone to breakouts. I live in a warm climate where I sweat a lot, so I need a foundation that won't come off on my clothes. I currently use an oil-free, long-lasting matte makeup, but it makes my skin look scaly. What can I do?

No one needs foundation, but if you do want something to cover up with, use moisturize with a light, water-based formula before bed; it will help bring things back into balance. When it's morning, using a face scrub will help rub away dirt while sleeping, and helps your foundation. Alba Botanica's Face & Body Scrub is good. If you need something light and stays on well, try mixing your moisturizer with your coverage. You could even use a CC or BB cream instead (they work as concealers as well). Hourglass and 100% Pure make nice ones, but are pricey.
