It's the angle that you're holding the camera. When you hold the camera up above your eyes, it gives the impression that your head and upper body are bigger than they actually are. If you hold the camera lower, it can make your head and upper body look smaller, but your hips and lower body will look bigger. It's all about what part of yourself you want to accentuate.
  • Question
How can I look good in a mirror selfie if I’m super ugly and fat?
    Community Answer
I'm sure you aren't super ugly. Everyone has insecurities and I believe that's perfectly normal. The part on fat - if not obese and not a health problem, I believe learning how to believe and accept your body is very important. Now onto the actual part. If you are insecure, wear clothing that is not tight and does not show the shape of your body. Try poses where you are sitting or hides your body. Use your phone to hide your insecurities - if parts of your face do not appeal to you, place your phone over it.

Try taking photos outside! The lighting makes a difference and often complements a pose.
