A hickey will most likely not disappear in 1 or 2 days, unless it is very minor and superficial without any bruising involved. Typically, it takes one to two weeks to completely resolve.

After 48 hours, if the area still has swelling, a warm compress is best. Up to 48 hours, ice is best to reduce swelling.
