  • Question
How can I enlarge my hat?
    Community Answer
Wooden hat stretchers are cheap and work well. Consider getting one of those and using it; make sure you do it gradually, however.
  • Question
How can I reshape a regular oval stetson hat into a round oval?
    Community Answer
Felt hat shaping is done using steam. With a little practice, you should be able to DIY using a tea kettle and imagination. Not sure if you are asking about shaping the crown or the brim, but both can usually be done just using your hands.
  • Question
Can I shape leather cowboy hats?
    Community Answer
Yes. There are tools made especially for shaping leather, and tutorials online, if you're unable to ask somebody with experience.
  • Question
How can I take out the cut crown in my wool cowboy hat?
    Community Answer
Push the crown out and tape it so it looks right. Leave it for a few days then take the tape off.
  • Question
Can I use a heat gun or hair dryer to shape my felt cowboy hat?
    Community Answer
I would advise against it. Excess heat can both shrink the hat's headband and cause permanent damage to the felt.
  • Question
How do I not ruin my cowboy hat when shaping it?
    Community Answer
Use lots of steam either from a steamer or kettle to soften the hat. Gently manipulate the felt with your fingers to re shape––it is most important that you don't rush the process.
  • Question
I have a hat made by twister. I'm not a huge fan of the brim because it is literally round, without any angles. The tag says it's made from paper. Is there a way to safely reshape the brim?
    Community Answer
Most straw hats are actually paper. You would better off to use a steamer or steam to achieve the desired shape, as described above. The wired brim should help retain the shape.
