  • Question
How can I improve my long shots?
    Community Answer
It's just practice, really. Start where you are comfortable and, with every shot you take, move a step back. Make sure you are using enough strength in your arms and knees.
  • Question
Can I jump when I am passing the ball to someone?
    Community Answer
Yes, but be careful that you don't accidentally commit footwork, which would give a free pass to the other team.
  • Question
I always miss a shot when I'm nervous. What can I do?
    Talvik
    Community Answer
Practice. The more you practice shooting, the better you will get, and the more confident you will become in your abilities. Pretty soon it will become second nature to you.
  • Question
How do I treat my stiff legs?
    Community Answer
Stretch regularly every day, and massage them. If it still hurts or is stiff, you may want to seek help from a doctor.
  • Question
Can I only use one hand without the support from the other hand at all?
    Talvik
    Community Answer
Yes, the other hand is just there to help balance the ball. If you find it easier using one hand only, go for it. Not only will it look impressive, but it can work even better than two hands sometimes.
  • Question
Can I roll the ball in netball?
    Talvik
    Community Answer
No, you can do a bounce pass however, which is where you pass the ball using a single bounce.
  • Question
My netball coach puts me in the GS and teaches me how to shoot, but I am scared of her and the stress makes me miss. What do I do?
    Talvik
    Community Answer
Do you enjoy being in GS? Or do you think you are better suited to another position? If the latter is true, speak to your coach and explain that you think you are more suited to GA, for example. Otherwise, practice your shooting a lot and soon it will become second nature to you. And take your time shooting! Don't rush your shots. As for being afraid of your coach, understand that she is trying to make you the best you can be, there is no need to be scared.
  • Question
How do I wait for a rebound when the ball does not go in the net?
    Community Answer
I always stand to the side of the net with one hand up. Face the net and stay on your toes, stretching your arm towards the net. Be ready to jump for the ball or sprint to get the rebound. Remember, you can pass to the outside of the circle and move to a better position to shoot from. This technique works for me and most of the time I am successful in getting the rebound.
  • Question
Can I jump when I shoot or pass?
    Community Answer
You can jump while shooting/passing, but you should avoid stepping if you do jump or you will have to hand the ball to the other team.
  • Question
How do I know if I should try to be a shooter in netball?
    Community Answer
It should feel right. Take ten shots and if you at least get 5 in, and it feels right, then practice shooting. If that continues to feel right, you can try to be a shooter. However, you'll still need to work out if you want to be GA or GS or both, that will come with practice, so try both roles to see what works best for you.
  • Question
If I miss 2 or 3 goals in a row, I get really nervous and lose confidence, which makes me miss even more. Do you have any advice for me?
    Community Answer
Breathe and refocus on the game. Forget about what you missed--that is done now. Make sure to keep your technique correct and follow up rebounds. You will do great.
  • Question
What are some things I can do to improve my shooting?
    Community Answer
Your stance is critical to transferring adequate power into your shots, so make sure you have good posture. Also concentrate on grip, not rushing and feigning shots. As much as possible, go for the rebound. Concentrating during the game is important too.
