If you want to use the classic position for ballroom dancing and you're leading, put your right hand on your partner's shoulder blade on their back, with your left hand raised off to the side clasping your partner's opposite hand.

Do you put all of your arm weight on a guy's shoulder while slow dancing?

Yes. If you are trying to somehow hover, you will look very stiff and uncomfortable. Just try to relax. Your arm weight is not going to over-burden your dance partner.

There's really no way to know for sure why he asked you without talking to me about it, but most guys will not ask a girl to dance unless they like them. Unless he's a longtime close friend of yours, he probably likes you. Try getting to know him better, or just asking him if he wants to hang out sometime.

Get as close as you feel comfortable. Ideally your hips should be touching on an angles but it depends on the dance, as different steps require different positioning.
