    Community Answer
As with most other plants, it is best to prune them after the harvest. Depending on the climate, this can range from the fall-winter period.
  • Question
Do grapes have to be grown from a seed, and where can I buy them?
    Community Answer
Yes, grapes do have to be grown from a seed. If grapes are common in your area, check out local stores that carry seeds; if not, many online specialty websites carry them.
  • Question
How many plants should I have per acre?
    Community Answer
It is up to you and your space. Normally, 10 or so should work.
  • Question
How long will it take to see fruits when starting a vineyard?
    Community Answer
Depending on a few factors, normally it will take within 2--6 years before the vineyard is grown enough to be in operation. It is also best for the plant to mature fully, in order to get the flavor you are looking for from the fruits. Earlier year fruits can be eaten at home but for a proper vineyard, wait longer.
  • Question
Is 10 plants per acre an accurate number?
    Community Answer
If your doing it as a hobby yes, but you can plant well over a hundred in an acre if you have the tools and expertise to do so. Keep in mind a full grown vine can produce between 50 and 80 pounds of grapes. So if it is a hobby, aim to have some variety, do some as wine grapes and some as eating grapes.
