    Expert Answer
While you are able to set up filters and spam blockers, you might not be able to prevent every spam email from coming to your inbox. The best thing to do is just be able to recognize when an email is spam and to not respond to it.
  • Question
What is the evidence that unsubscribing increases spam?
    Community Answer
If you click the unsubscribe button, that confirms that your email is a valid email. Ignore it and they will eventually assume it is abandoned or fake.
  • Question
How do I stop spammers from using my email address as the permitted sender?
    Community Answer
Some email services (such as Gmail) provide double authentication to log in to the account. Usually a mobile phone is needed. Make sure to enable this, and check to see whether the junk mail is still sent from there. If it is, then there is possibly a virus installed on your phone which is used to catch data on it. Otherwise it may be one of your friends having a laugh.
  • Question
I have gotten a flood of junk mail on my iPad. How do I stop it?
    Community Answer
It's not your iPad, it's your email address. Either get rid of the email address and make a new one or use harsher rules for the spam filter (if you have one). Also, never unsubscribe and report spam mails to dedicated services before deleting it.
  • Question
If I send someone a message containing my email address, will it be private?
    Community Answer
If you send an email, where your email address is written, the recipient can see it. The recipient will also see the email address the message was sent from. (That is not the case though, if someone sends you a group email, and the email visibility is off. So if someone sends three people an email as a group message, the three people can not see each others' addresses.)
  • Question
If I'm receiving spam emails with my own email, how do I stop/block them?
    Community Answer
If you actually do send emails to yourself (there are reasons to), include an automatic signature that makes such emails distinctive from your spammed emails, some text the spam wouldn't contain. It's difficult to filter for emails that don't contain something but what you can do is extract all those emails that you sent to yourself, then just delete the rest. If you never send emails to yourself, then all emails from you to you are spam, right? So, just treat all emails from you to you as spam - especially if they have attachments.
  • Question
My friend forwards spam to me. How can I stop them?
    Community Answer
Talk to your friend and let them know that you don't want them to keep forwarding you spam. If they don't know what you're talking about, it's possible their account was hacked and it's not really your friend sending you spam (you can just block that email address ). If it is your friend and they won't stop doing it, you can also block their email so you won't receive what they send you.
  • Question
If someone has my real name on a Yahoo spam email has my account been cracked?
    Community Answer
No. Anyone can use whatever name he chooses for his own e-mail account, but he would have to use another mail address. If you receive spam from your own address, change your password or disable the account.
  • Question
I keep getting emails that seem to be sent by me. How do I block them?
    Community Answer
I would start by resetting your password. It is possible that your account was hacked and they are sending spam.
  • Question
How do I move wanted emails from the junk folder back to the inbox?
    Luca Vitti
    Community Answer
If you accidentally mark your email as junk, then select the email in the junk folder, select "Mark As," and select "Move To Inbox."
  • Question
How do I stop my email from sending out spam emails?
    Community Answer
Use an anti-virus to look for malware in the devices you use to access your email, then change your password.
  • Question
I received a spam email recently that used one of my contact's names. How could they get that information?
    Luca Vitti
    Community Answer
Your contact could have downloaded malware (malicious software) and the scammer sen the email. Either that, or you did. Consider a malware detector, such as malwarebytes.
  • Question
How does spam get my information?
    Luca Vitti
    Community Answer
Sometimes, (and I assume we have all done it once in our life) we enter a website that says "free iPhones!' or something along those lines. At which point we (or maybe just me) were being idiots, and selected the option to put in our email, download an app, or even just give the google account. This would result in us getting those spam emails. Now try to be more careful online. Avoid the websites, bots, and offers, and if you do happen to get spam, ignore the email, and wait for them to give up trying because the email is "invalid." ~Cap sends
  • Question
How do I stop receiving spam email?
    Community Answer
Get a new email address. There's no way to stop the emails, you only can block them with a junk filter.
  • Question
My so called friend and her friends constantly spam me with texts calls and social media. It's getting really annoying. What can I do to stop this other than blocking them, which will only cause drama?
    Julia
    Community Answer
Try to get them to stop. First, give out tiny hints that you want them to stop. After getting more obvious that you want them to stop, just tell them!
