The water in your tank is usually cold. If the air in the bathroom is hot, it can cause condensation to form on the exterior of your tank.

Turn the fan on, open the vents in the bathroom, and keep the door open when you shower. Whatever you can do to normalize the temperature in the bathroom when you shower should cut down on tank sweating.

  • Question
Didn't they use to sell a type of insulation I could install in the tank?
    Drew Rebel Rogaczewski
    Community Answer
Yes they did, but it's cheaper to buy 1/2" foam insulation and do it yourself. It doesn't work too well either unless you have air movement and reduced temperature difference between the water and ambient air temps.
