    Expert Answer
Back up your photos in multiple places. Use external hard drives and cloud storage services so you can access your photos no matter what happens.
  • Question
How do I store photos from a computer to a memory stick?
    Community Answer
When you plug the thumb drive into the USB port, oftentimes your computer will automatically open the drive's files. If not, open up your files and navigate the sidebar until you find "This PC" or "Computer" (or something similar). Your memory stick should be listed alongside your computer's hard drive and disk drive, often as "(E:)." From your computer, select the photos you wish to transfer, and drag them into (E:) (or whatever you find your memory stick is labelled as).
  • Question
Do I need to put anything between pictures?
    Community Answer
You could if you wanted. A thin, non-stick material should work. Try parchment paper used for baking.
  • Question
I am taking photographs out of their frames to store together. What kind of tub will I need to store them?
    Community Answer
Any large plastic tub should work just fine. I would recommend putting the photos into albums first though to avoid any tearing or bending.
  • Question
How can I protect my picture albums if I don't have a climate-controlled storage unit and they will be in storage for several months?
    Community Answer
Crumple up newspapers and put them inside a cardboard box. Put your photo album in the box and surround it will the newspapers. This will help the humidity to be absorbed. Also, you could put silica gel packets in between the pages.
  • Question
Do people still use DVD or CD discs for photo storage?
    Community Answer
Yes, but they are much less popular now due to the rise of SD cards and USB drives for digital media.
  • Question

    Community Answer
