  • Question
What if the child gives up after a few falls?
    Community Answer
Don't make him do it. Just take the bike back inside and try again another day. Only practice for a short time if he is not sure and stop if he shows any signs of unhappiness. Be encouraging.

Some kids have learned to ride on their own without training wheels and minimal supervision, but there should be a set place for any child doing so away from traffic. The driveway is a great location for this.
  • Question
My child won't build up any momentum, and I can't let him go until he goes fast enough. How do I fix that?
    Community Answer
Take him to park/grassy place. Hold onto his back/shirt, push him, and let him go. If he falls, he will be okay. You could also put skateboarding pads on him.
  • Question
How can I get my child to learn if they keep saying it's too wobbly?
    Community Answer
Buy them some training wheels to stabilize the bike. You can also hold on to the back of the bike and run behind to keep the bike steady.
  • Question
My daughter is 12 years old and she is embarrassed to learn at her age. She wants to do it somewhere where people won't see her but we don't have that kind of room. What should I do?

    Community Answer
It's totally fine if she feels embarrassed about it. Try finding a time and place where she can practice without anybody else seeing if she's worried about it. For instance, you could go to an empty parking lot somewhere across town or try getting up really early to practice on a weekend. Once she gets the hang of it, she probably won't be so nervous about other people seeing her practice.
  • Question
My kid wants to learn how to ride bikes, but then he gave up, what should I do?
    Drew Hawkins1
    Community Answer
Let him take his time. If you try to push to hard, it could discourage him from trying again. Instead, wait for him to want to learn again and then spend some time teaching him. It's not a big deal if he just isn't into it right now. Chances are, he will be someday!
