    Expert Answer
Unfortunately there is no 'cure' and it's a case of managing the symptoms so the dog can lead as normal a life as possible. That management includes pain relief and controlled exercise so the dog's muscle stay strong and support the joints. There are some surgical procedures which can help, and also supplements of chondroitin and glucosamine may help the joint to stay healthy and reduce further damage.

Yes, known as a Pomsky, these are quite possibly the cutest puppies known to man! However, a few words of caution. Whilst the Pomsky is a smaller size to the Husky, they have the same big personality and the same wanderlust. Be prepared for a strong-minded little dog that loves to escape and needs a lot of exercise. The Pomsky is definitely not an apartment dog and not a dog for the faint-hearted to take on!
  • Question
What do I do if my dog suddenly starts biting?
    Community Answer
You can do a lot of things. Say a loud "ouch!" when it happens and ignore your dog for a while. Work on your obedience training with your husky, that usually solves a lot of issues. If nothing seems to work, ask an experienced trainer in your area to help.
  • Question
Will my puppy rip up my home while I am at school?
    Community Answer
If you leave him alone in the house for too many hours and he gets bored, he might do that. You can minimize the risk of this with crate training (see the article for specific age-related information on this) and/or by having a dog walker, friend, or neighbor come by during the day to check on your dog and walk him/her.
  • Question
Is it okay for a Siberian husky puppy to live in a tropical country?
    Community Answer
Huskies can live in tropical climates as long as there is shade and possibly an electric fan or air conditioner to help keep the dog cool. Keep the dog in a cool place during the heat of the day.
  • Question
Is it possible to adopt any age husky?
    Community Answer
Yes, it is possible, but it depends on how capable you are to taking care of it. Usually, it's very easy if you get a puppy and start by training it from the beginning. If you get an older husky try to be friends with her before training her. It is likely that she misses her previous owners. Older dogs need to learn to trust you and you have to earn their trust.
  • Question
Can a husky live in the Philippines without an air conditioner?
    Community Answer
Huskies can live in tropical climates as long as there is shade and possibly an electric fan to blow the air over the dog. Keep it in a cool place during the heat of the day.
  • Question
Is there any chance I can get a husky puppy for $10?
    Community Answer
No. Husky puppies are an easy $1,000 for a reputable breeder and that's a low estimate. A causal breeder will probably sell puppies for high hundreds. Even a husky mix will be a few hundred. Like any dog, it will cost you around $700-$1700 to purchase. You can adopt a dog and that will be a heck of a lot cheaper, but if you want a purebred husky puppy, the chances of finding one there are fairly slim. If you only have $10, you may not be ready for a dog, especially a puppy that needs to go to the vet, get supplies, food, and everything else. But happy hunting!
  • Question
How do I introduce my Siberian husky puppy to another Siberian husky puppy?
    Community Answer
Take it slow and simple. Let get them close, but don't let them touch. Next let them get used to each other by letting them spend some time together before splitting them up for a minute or two. If they want to play, you can try letting them go and see what happens.
  • Question
Can I take my husky puppy for a ride in the car?
    Community Answer
Definitely. My husky puppy freaked out at first, but now she loves it. She sits in my lap if someone else is driving; if I'm diving I just pet her and she's very calm.
  • Question
If I train my husky and get it really connected with me, will it still want to run away?
    Community Answer
It might. I was very close with my dog, and she ran away plenty of times. Dogs love to explore.

  • Question
My yard is not fenced. Can I walk my Husky several times a day and leave him in the house the rest of the day?
    Community Answer
It depends on your dog's personality. Some dogs are perfectly fine if walked and then left at home. Make sure you leave a safe toy to help keep him occupied -- Kong toys are nearly indestructible, so they're a good choice. Some dogs may need to be restricted to a certain, "safe" area like a mudroom, kitchen, spare room, or bathroom if they have a tendency to destroy things.
  • Question
What if I'm worried about my husky escaping?
    Community Answer
When huskies grow, they can jump about the height of a regular fence. When they are fully grown, they can jump very high fences. If you want exact measurements, then you can find them online. If you're worried about your husky running away, keep them inside unless you can supervise them outdoors.
  • Question
How long does it take to potty train a puppy?
    Community Answer
It depends on your dog, but it usually takes a few months.
  • Question
Can a husky live in an apartment?
    Community Answer
Yes, it can. You just have to take them for frequent walks and trips to the dog park or other large outdoor space where he/she can run and play. It's not true that big dogs need a house with a garden to be happy. They just need someone who loves them and treats them right.

  • Question
Will huskies protect you as a result of love or loyalty?

  • Question
Can you get a job that gets you a good amount of money but you can still take care of the husky?
    Community Answer
If you live with someone else who can contribute to caring for the husky, you can try working a different shift than that person so there is someone home most of the time. Or you could hire a dogsitter. Or you could pursue a career that allows you to work from home on a flexible schedule. There are many computer-based jobs like this (programming, graphic design, freelance writing, etc.), but it would generally take a few years of education, experience, and/or working your way up to develop such a career.

Firmly tell the dog no and move the food away. You can also try ignoring the behavior while (of course) keeping your food out of reach.
