  • Question
I am a programmer, so I need to frequently use arrow keys on my keyboard. So what's the efficient way to use them? Move my hand so that my first 3 fingers get on the keys, or use just pinky finger?
    R2_d2000
    Top Answerer
Moving your hand so that your first 3 fingers are on the keys will allow you to press the keys faster and more accurately. However, everyone is different, so if pressing them with your pinky works for you, and you're used to it, then do that.
  • Question
Does typing with your index finger make more typos than when using all fingers?
    Bjc112358

Typing with your index finger is slower, and 100% accurate, (and makes a paragraph take an hour) while typing with all your fingers is faster, not 100% accurate but there's a Backspace key, (and it takes maybe a minute), plus when you type with all fingers you develop muscle memory and you can type common words fast.

Note that typing skills take a long time to develop. Also, trying to go faster than you can type accurately is not good for you, you'll end up embedding all the mistakes. So instead, try typing slowly and accurately.

Why is it so hard for me to learn how to type?

That could be for a number of reasons. However, the most likely cause for this is how uncomfortable it is to type using the home keys at first. It also takes time to learn to do it without making your own rules but following the proper technique. After some practice, it should feel a bit more natural.
