  • Question
The green light comes on, so I know there's power, but it won't let me put any paper in. It does nothing. Any suggestions?
    Community Answer
I took the top off of the shredder and cleaned all of the cut paper where the blades are. I also had the same problem -- green light on but could not feed any paper into the slot. Then I looked with a flashlight into the feed slot and saw paper stuck that I had to pull out, which was very difficult. Once I got it out the shredder worked perfectly. Thoroughly check for a paper jam with a flashlight.
  • Question
A gear fell out of my paper shredder. Is it fixable?
    Community Answer
Yes, but this would require quite a bit of work. A gear falling out would indicate the plastic or metal frame that houses the gears is broken. An experienced mechanic or DIY-er could probably fix it.
  • Question
What if my shredder still doesn't work after I unjam it?
    Community Answer
Take it to the shop where you bought it. Although the guarantee will not apply, they may be able to figure out the problem.
  • Question
I have a Staples 16-page Titanium Micro-Cut shredder. When I place paper in the slot to shred the 'Jam' light comes on, and the shredder will not run. The shredder is not jammed. How is this fixed?
    Community Answer
Let your machine cool for a bit. Sometimes the motor is very hot and will short circuit if too much heat is added. Then the only way to take out the bits of paper is to use a needle nose plier and carefully take out each piece. This process is lengthy, but it's effective.
  • Question
What can I do if my shredder has been cleaned thoroughly after use and the teeth cleared, but it will not work?
    Community Answer
Make sure the bin is in place correctly. The shredder will not work if the bin is not installed.
  • Question
How do I remove a paper clip from shredder?
    Community Answer
If it came through without getting stuck, open the bin and fish it out with your fingers. If it did get stuck, you'll have to take the machine apart.
