Will the second method cause smoke?
    Community Answer
No, not if you use the correct amount.
  • Question
How will pouring seafoam in my gas tank help with the ticking from my lifters?
    Community Answer
It probably won't. You're better off doing the vacuum line or oil treatment to go after the lifters, but even then you're probably better off having the lifters physically inspected, cleaned, and/or replaced.
  • Question
My car does not have a carburetor. Where do I pour the seafoam?
    Community Answer
You can pour a little bit into the intake while it's running, along with the gas tank. If you want to get seafoam into the cylinders, it needs to be either in the air or the gas on your fuel-injected vehicle.
  • Question

  • Question
Can I put seafoam directly in the diesel cylinder to free up frozen rings?
    Community Answer
Seafoam doesn't work all that well when the engine block is cold. You might be better off using marvel mystery oil, leave the glow plugs out, let the oil penetrate over night, then use a breaker bar to turn the engine over (in the correct direction) to free the pistons. If they turn normally then leave the glow plugs out and crank the engine to clear any excess oil from the cylinder. If you don't, you may risk hydro-locking your engine when you try starting it, which could crack or pop a whole in a piston or two. Once you turn it over 20 or 30 times to clear it out, put your glow plugs back in. Maybe check fuel pressure first to make sure the injection system is properly pressurized.
