  • Question
Are there any benefits to wiggling your ears?
    Community Answer
The fun of being able to show off your new skill is a benefit.
  • Question
This thing is impossible. Either that or my ears are lifeless. Any tips?
    Community Answer
Concentrate on the muscle behind your chin (not your jaw). Don't just sit there and expect them to move, because they won't. Put your pointer finger right behind your ear. If you have to at first, move your eyebrows. Your ears might move as well. If you do this everyday, you will be able to do it without moving any other muscles except your ear ones.
  • Question
I can't find the muscle to wiggle my ears! How do you do that?
    Community Answer
Unfortunately, some people just don't have the vestigial muscle that lets people wiggle their ears. Not everyone can do it.
  • Question
How long does it take to learn how to do this?
    Community Answer
The amount of time to practice varies. Some people can't even do it at all.
  • Question
Can everyone wiggle their ears with practice?
    Azami
    Community Answer
No. Some people don't have the ability because they don't have the vestigial muscle that enables them to do so, or they can't voluntarily control it.
  • Question
Where are the muscles used to wiggle my ears?
    Community Answer
They are the auricularis superior and the auricularis posterior, which are located above and behind your ears.
  • Question
My ear muscles move when I open my mouth but not when I raise my eyebrows. Is that good or bad?
    Community Answer
It's a normal phenomenon that happens to many people.
  • Question
    Are ear wigglers hyper mobile?
    Community Answer
No, hyper mobility is when joints have a bit more moving space than usual. Ear wiggling doesn't involve that.
  • Question
How do I move the muscle above my ear?
    Community Answer
Move your eyebrows as far up as possible and move them away from each other.
  • Question
I can only move my ears when I move my mouth or eyebrows. Is that a good start or even a start at all?
    Community Answer
Yes but try some other easy methods but if it doesn't work just stick to your original methods.
  • Question
I can feel and see my ear muscles moving (a lot), yet when I try to use one of them, it isn't working. Any tips?
    Community Answer
When you try to move specific ears, the muscles might not be used to the movement. After you have practiced for a while, focus on one ear. You will know if you did it if one of the ears feels motionless, and the other has a tingling feeling.
  • Question
How do I know if I have the vestigial muscle?
    Community Answer
Try experimenting with moving your eyebrows first, and try to feel the muscle that contracts (either above or behind the ear). Sadly, there's not a specific way to know whether you have the muscle or not. You may find it easier to control later on, or it may have atrophied. Practicing might help locate the muscle, but if you have it, you'll be able to contract it in a few weeks of practice (varies from person to person).
  • Question
How do I move the muscle behind my ear?
    Community Answer
You can only wiggle them if you have the vestigial muscle (not all people have it).
  • Question
If I can only move one ear, is this a good start?
    Community Answer
Yes it's a good start. I can only move both if I start to smile and I completely raise my eyebrows.
  • Question
Is it likely that someone who has vestigial muscles in their ears has other areas in their body that might have superior abilities as well?
    Community Answer
    No, not really.
  • Question
Why does it hurt when I try to do this?
    Community Answer
Probably because you're not used to it, and your muscles don't work as they should, yet. It should get better as you do it more.
  • Question
How do I know if I have a vestigial muscle?
    Community Answer
Everyone has the muscles responsible for wiggling their ears. It's just a matter of whether or not you know how to consciously control them.
  • Question
Is there any other way to wiggle my ears?
    Community Answer
This is how I learned: Rapidly blink one eye and feel behind your ears. There should be some small movement. After a while, (it took me a month) you can learn to control your ears without your eyes. The eyebrows and mouth thing never worked for me, so you should try it this way.
  • Question
What's an easier way to wiggle my ears?
    Community Answer
I learned how by yawning. Try to yawn, and feel your ears to see if they move. Then start yawning with your mouth closed, then not at all! You should be able to wiggle them.
  • Question
How do I isolate the muscle to wiggle my ears?
    Community Answer
Sometimes it comes naturally, and sometimes you have to practice for a long time. Some people can't do it at all! Try to look surprised, and then wiggle your ears from there.
  • Question
Is there any point to actually being able to wiggle your ears?
    Community Answer
You can impress your friends with this new party trick and laugh about how silly it looks!
  • Question
How do I isolate my ear muscles when I want to wiggle my ears?
    Community Answer
Flex your entire cheek. If your ear move even slightly then you have a muscle there. Isolate this muscle by doing the techniques he explained. If it doesn't move though, then you don't have that muscle.
