There are many different ways to write a book, and I think everybody has their own particular way. For some people, it can be as simple as getting an idea in the shower or when they're driving to work. Whether it's intended or accidental, the stories occur, and then it's really just a decision. Is this story really calling me? Do I really need to write it? That's how a story is really formed. It becomes something that you can't not write.
  • Question
How can I write a narrative essay on the saying "A bird at hand is better than two birds beyond"?
    Community Answer
A narrative is a story. That saying means that it's better to take what you know you can count on (the bird you have right now in your hand) rather than relying on something that may or may not come in the future (a possible two birds later). So you want to tell a story about why this saying is true. Did you or someone you know ever gamble away something you had thinking you could get more of it later, but that turned out not to be the case? There's your story.
  • Question
How can I improve in my vocabulary?
    Donagan
    Top Answerer
Actively notice the vocabularies of as many other writers and speakers as possible. Look up words you're not familiar with.
  • Question
How do I write an essay about when I experienced failure in my life?
    Community Answer
Begin by talking about yourself and who you are now. Then you can explain how you would't have been who you are now without experiencing failure and learning to overcome it. Use this to move into your story of failure. End with the lessons learned and how you overcame the challenges to thrive today. Don't pretend life is all roses after failure though; always remember to say that you know failure is always a possibility again but that you've learned how to cope better and also to prepare yourself for the future.
  • Question
How do I make a narrative about a life or death situation?
    Community Answer
Since a life or death event is a dramatic occurrence, you could start it with a dramatic phrase like: "I never knew it would be my last breath."

"Narrative writing" describes anything from full-length novels to three-sentence flash-fiction. If you have been given an assignment to produce a piece of narrative writing, ask for a clarification. Otherwise, it's as many as paragraphs as you like (of course, most readers would prefer that the story have as many paragraphs as needed to bring it to a clean end).

Narratives have five elements: plot, setting, character, conflict, and theme. Writers use narrator style, chronological order, a point of view, and other strategies to tell a story.
  • Question
How do I write a complete narrative story?
    Community Answer
The narrative passage often includes the elements necessary for the development of a story. For example: main character, supporting character, events. Therefore, the narrative paragraph often requires the writer. Arrange events in sequential order or chronologically. The body of the narrative paragraph usually includes many elements, but if written correctly, the highlight of the paragraph will be the details, the event, not the description.
  • Question
Your friend is missing and you need to write a description of your friend for the police?
    Community Answer
The best way to tackle this is to start with your friend's appearance. You can list out a variety of things such as: 1. Their hair color 2. Their eye color 3. Their physique (including their approximate weight, body build and height) 4. Any characteristic that stands out for them (such as a mole on the nose) 5. Their complexion and how their skin looks like 6. The kind of clothes they wore before they went missing 7. Plus any other visible attributes your friend may have that made it easy to identify them.

Yes, if it is a single paragraph, and closes with either reflection about that anecdote or a segue into another paragraph (e.g. a second anecdote).
