Open with a greeting and use the recipient's proper title (Dear Dr., Ms., Mrs., Mr., etc.). I always preface my message with "I hope this email finds you well." If I am asking for a favor, then I always make the last line before closing something like "Thank you for your help, consideration, etc." Break up paragraphs every time the subject changes, in order to make the content digestable. Make sure to end with "Sincerely,Your Full Name".

With the new privacy laws, this has changed. You can't simply send an e-mail to all if they have not given you permission to share their personal information. For example, I can't send an e-mail to all the parents of the kids in my sports class; I have to paste the list of addresses into the BCC: field and send the e-mail to myself. That way they all receive it without their addresses being shared with everyone.
