As a Lyft Driver, after you drive your rider to their destination, you’re asked to rate the rider. This wikiHow will explain how to do that.
Steps
-
1Realize that all riders are automatically rated five stars by Lyft once you drop them off. However, you can change the rating for this rider if you'd like. You have 24 hours from the drop-off time to rate them differently.
-
2Complete the trip in Lyft Driver. Accept the trip, drive to the rider, pick up the rider, drive them to their destination and drop them off, tapping and sliding the required buttons along the way.Advertisement

3Wait for the line listing how much you've made to go away.
-
4Get to the Ratings page. Tap the "$" icon at the bottom of the screen (if offline), or tap the total amount you've earned from today link button/designation from the bottom left corner of the screen (if online). Scroll down until you find the Lyft Driver trips you've taken and tap the rider you'd like to rate. Scroll all the way down the passenger’s Lyft Trip Earnings Breakdown section, and you’ll see a pair of buttons appear ("Rate passenger", See dashboard" and "Get Help"). Tap the "Rate passenger" option.
-
5Make sure that the picture and name of the ride matches the rider you'd like to rate.
-
6Look for the row of stars between the rider's name and the line saying "You'll never be matched with someone you rate 3 stars or lower." Tap the corresponding star rating for the number of stars you want to give them (they’ll already be auto-rated as five stars).
-
7Include a comment if desired. Lyft will read all comments left here, so be as detailed as possible if you need to rate them low - explaining what happened, as doing so may save you from getting super-negative feedback from the rider or Lyft themselves.
- Commenting isn't mandatory by any means, but it will help when rating the rider three stars or less.
- There are no scroll bars that allow you to move around to additional lines above or below where your text-cursor is. Be prepared to double-check your work as you type out the comment.
-
8Tap the pink "Submit" button. Submit will send the rating to the rider and the comments to Lyft Driver Support. A three-star rating - like the notice says - will tell Lyft to stop matching you up with this rider.Advertisement

QuestionShould I rate my Lyft riders?Christopher Batchelor has been driving for Lyft since July 2017 and Uber since August 2017. He has made more than 3300 combined rides as a driver for these ride-sharing services. You don't necessarily need to rate your Lyft riders. Lyft auto-rates its passengers from the Driver's app at the end of the ride, but you can go in and adjust it. However, a poor rating should never be due to distance, time, or religious factors. Only change the rating if you have a legitimate complaint about the rider.
