After an Uber ride, the rider gets the chance to rate the driver, and the driver gets the chance to rate the rider, too. Other drivers will see passengers' ratings and can use it to help decide whether to accept their future ride request. It's important to rate them fairly, and this wikiHow will help.
Steps
-
1Complete a trip. This process is described in this article in great detail. Once you've dropped off your rider, stop the clock by using the "Complete Trip" slider bar.
- To receive a rider rating screen, you must have completed the trip with the rider.
-
2Consider several factors during the rider's trip.
- Focus on your rider's behavior on the trip. Were they friendly enough, and generally considerate? Did they do anything that was out of the ordinary or become disruptive? If they behaved unsafely or were disruptive, you may choose to rate them lower.
- Other aspects to consider include: Were they in the right pickup area when you arrived or did you have to go to a different place after they contacted you? Did they make you wait longer than anticipated (generally, any more than five to ten minutes)? Did they bring only the right number of riders for safety in your car? Were they reasonably clean? Did they respect your car (both rider policy and rules)?

3Review the ratings screen. After most types of Uber trip, your single named rider's rating bar will be displayed on the screen. On trips listed as UberPOOL, multiple riders can be listed on the screen, and each will have their own block for your own rating reason. The top line will give you the name of the rider while the next line will give you the star rating.
- If your passenger brought along other people, you can still consider their behavior in your rating of the main rider.
-
4Look for the star rating below the rider. You'll see that the default star rating is 5-stars; by tapping the fourth star from the left, you can change it. Only yellow-filled stars count towards rating your rider.
- After you complete the rating, you can't revise it, so double check before submitting!
-
5Explain to the rider why you rated them anything less than 5 stars, if necessary. This is optional, but if you rate the passenger with anything less than the default 5 stars, Uber can tell your rider what went wrong. Select the options in the box that pops up above the rider's name. The options include the most current Attitude, Wait Time, Number of Riders, Cleanliness, and Other.
-
6Rate each rider, if you're doing an UberPOOL trip. Every rider who joined the ride before the last drop-off was given will be displayed on the screen and you'll have to rate each one individually. This involves the same steps as before; just make sure you rate everyone accurately by considering them individually.
-
7Complete the rating. Tap the "Rate Rider" button at the bottom of the screen to save your rating and proceed.
- You'll either move on to pick up the next rider (in a back-to-back rider situation) or you can look for new potential requests inside the app. The app will keep you online until you tell the app to take you offline.

Tips
- Try to rate your riders fairly to ensure other Uber drivers understand the rider's compliance with Uber policies. Thanks
- You must rate the rider before the rider rates you. The rider won't get the rating box until you have rated them. It's good not to postpone this; rate them as soon as you can for efficiency. Thanks
- If your rider mentions they would like to give a tip, end the ride and rate them, then explain the process of them rating you and proceeding to the next page to enter the tip. Thanks

Warnings
- Uber doesn't give you an option to close this box without a rating, so just try your best and rate accordingly. Avoid giving everyone five stars just because you want to skip the time needed to rate; it should only take a few seconds. Thanks
- Don't rate your riders unfairly or based on anything other than their behavior and Uber's policies. Thanks
