Did you notice a problem on Google Maps? Perhaps there is an incorrect address or a missing road. Maybe a location or road has the wrong name. Perhaps you are experiencing a technical issue with the app itself. Luckily, it’s really easy to report problems to Google Maps. You can report technical problems or problems with the map in your account menu. You can also suggest an edit if you notice incorrect information about a location. Additionally, you can use the Contribute feature to suggest edits to a location or road or to leave a review. This wikiHow article teaches you how to report problems and suggest edits to Google Maps on Android, iPhone & iPad, and a Computer.
Quickly Report a Problem on Google Maps
Open the Google Maps app and tap your profile icon. Tap Help & Feedback . Select Edit the map to report an error on the map or select Send product feedback to report other issues. Select one of the options related to the problem you want to report and follow the prompts.

Open Google Maps. It has an icon that resembles a multicolored map marker. Tap the icon in your Apps menu or Home screen to open Google Maps. The app may be called “Google Maps” or just “Maps” depending on your device’s OS.

Tap your profile icon. It's in the upper-right corner of the screen. If you have not uploaded a profile image to your Google account, it will appear as a colored circle with your initial in the middle. This displays your account menu.Advertisement

Tap Help & Feedback . It's at the bottom of your account menu.

4Select an option. There are several options you can select in the Help & Feedback menu. They are as follows:
- How to get started (iOS only): Tap this option to display articles on how to get started with Google Maps.
- Help: This option displays a list of instructional articles on how to use Google Maps.
- Tips & Tricks (iOS only): Tap this option to learn about helpful features of Google Maps.
- Edit the map: Tap this option if there is an issue with the map, such as an incorrect or missing address, entrance, or road, or if you want to add details about a location or suggest a change.
- Your location (Android only): Select this option if there is a problem with your location, such as your location being off, facing the wrong direction, on the wrong side of the street, jumping around, greyed out, or taking too long to load.
- Navigation problem (Android only): Select this option if there is a problem with your route or map position. Select this option to send diagnostic data to Google.
- Send product feedback: Select this option if you want to suggest improvements or report a technical issue.

5Follow the prompts to report a problem. Depending on which option you selected, the prompts will be different. Use one of the following steps to report a problem for the following options.
- Add or update entrance: This option is not available on all versions of the Google Maps app. To add or change an entrance, tap the building you want to add an entrance to. Then tap where you want to add an entrance. Tap Submit.
- Add or fix a place: Tap Add a missing place , Change name or other details, or Remove a place. Fill out details about the missing place or tap the place you want to change and then tap the item you want to change (i.e., place name, hours, phone number, etc). Enter the correct information and tap Submit .
- Fix an address: To fix an address, you will need to drag the map so that the red marker is on the address you want to edit and tap Next . Then, you will need to fill in the correct address details. Then tap Submit.
- Add or fix a road:
- To fix a problem with the road, you will need to tap the road you want to edit and then select what is wrong with the road (i.e., drawn wrong, doesn’t exist, wrong name, one-way/two-way, etc). Follow the prompts to make changes to the road and tap Submit .
- To add a road, drag the marker to the starting location of the road. Tap Start Drawing . Drag to where the road turns or curves and tap Add point . Keep going until the road ends. Tap Next and fill out information about the missing road. Then tap Submit .
- Your location: To report a problem with your location, tap the option that describes the problem you are having (i.e., blue dot is off, jumps around, greyed out, etc) and tap Next . Then tap Get Started. Answer the questions and write some feedback. Then tap Submit .
- Navigation problem: To report a navigation problem, select if you want to include diagnostic data and tap Next . Then, you will need to answer some questions and submit some feedback.
- Send product feedback:
To report a general problem with the app, tap Get Started
and answer a few questions. Then, you will be given the option to submit feedback.
- In iOS, tapping this option will open a form where you can compose a message from the email address associated with your Apple Account. Type a message explaining your problem and check whether or not you want to include system logs. You can also check a box allowing Google to email you with updates or further information. Click the Send icon (it looks like a paper airplane) when you’re done.

5Select an item you want to suggest an edit for. You can tap the name of the location, the category, the address, the hours of operations, the phone number, the website, or you can tap Place is closed or not here at the bottom.

2Tap + Contribute . It’s the third tab at the bottom of the screen. It has an icon that resembles a plus (+) sign inside of a circle.

3Select an option. There are 6 options you can choose from at the top. They are as follows:
- Add place: Select this option if you want to add a place that is not currently on the map.
- Update place: Select this option if you want to update details about a place (i.e., place name, address, hours of operation, phone number, website) or report the place closed or not there.
- Add review: Select this option if you want to add a review for a business.
- Add photo: Select this option to add photos at a location.
- Update road: Select this option to report a problem with a road (i.e., missing road, wrong name, one-way/two-way, drawn incorrectly, etc).
- Update address: Select this option to suggest a change to an address.

- Add place: Enter the name of the place and select a category. Enter the address, and tap the map at the bottom. Place the map marker on the location. Add any additional details you wish to add and tap Submit .
- Update place: Tap the location you want to update on the map and tap Next . Then tap a suggested item to update. Fill out the details and tap Submit .
- Add review: Tap the business or location you want to review or enter the name or address in the Choose place… field. Select how many stars you want to rate the location and write your review. Then tap Post .
- Add photo: Select a photo or tap Camera and take a picture while you are at a location. Then tap Post .
- Update road: Select what’s wrong with the road from one of the options. Then tap the road you want to report. Fill out the details you want to report and tap Submit .
- Update address: Place the red map marker on the location you want to edit and tap Next . Fill out the form with the correct details. Then tap Submit .

Go to https://maps.google.com in a web browser. You can report problems with Google Maps with any web browser, including Chrome, Firefox, and Safari.
- If you’re not already signed in to your Google account, you’ll need to sign in now. You can do so by visiting https://www.google.com and clicking Sign in at the top-right corner of the screen.

Click ☰ . It’s the icon with three horizontal lines at the top-left corner of the screen.

5Follow the prompts. Depending on which option you select, the prompts will be different. Use one of the following options to report a problem:
- Wrong pin location or address: Fill out the form with the correct address of the location you want to change. Click the map at the bottom of the form and place the red marker on the correct location. Click Submit .
- Missing place: Enter the name of the place and select a category. Enter the address for the place. Click the map and the bottom and put the map marker on the correct location. Enter any additional details you want to include. Click Submit .
- Add or fix a road: To fix a road, click the road you want to fix and then select if you want to fix the entire road or a segment. Click the checkbox next to the option you want to fix and follow the prompts to make a suggested change. Click Done . To add a road, click Add road and follow the prompts to draw a new road. Then click Done.
- Wrong information: Click the location with incorrect information and then click one of the options you want to suggest be changed. Fill out the correct information and click Submit .
- Your opinions about maps: Click Report a problem or Suggest an idea . Fill out the form and click Submit .
