Phew—you just finished changing the oil in your Honda Accord. When you start up your car though, the oil life isn’t back at 100%. Honda Accords require you to reset your oil life manually, but the good news is that it’s super simple to do! In this article, we’ll tell you how to get your car’s oil life back to 100% on both newer and older models. Read on to learn how!
Things You Should Know
- Turn on your car to the “RUN” or “II” position but do not start your engine.
- Press the “SELECT/RESET” button to toggle to “Oil Life” on your dashboard. Hold the button down for 10 seconds or until “Oil Life” flashes.
- Release the “SELECT/RESET” button, then press and hold it down again until the oil life resets to 100%.
Steps
-
Turn on your car’s power, but do not start the engine. When you reset your oil life, you do not completely start your car. Instead, place your keys in the ignition and turn them over twice to the “RUN” or “II” position. This starts the power in your car, but not the engine. [1] X Research source
- If you have a push-to-start button, press it twice with your foot off the brake.
- This method works for most Accords built before 2017.
