Designed to replace the Susan B. Anthony dollar, Sacagawea dollars were minted in the US from 2000-2008. They were instantly notable for their gold color, combined with the fact that the coins paid homage to a Native American woman quietly forgotten by history up to that point. Unfortunately, given the wide circulation of these coins and the fact that they aren’t particularly old, most of these coins are just worth face value. However, there are a few notable standouts—and who knows, they may just be hiding in your spare change drawer!
Are Sacagawea Dollars Valuable?
Most Sacagawea dollars are worth the face value of $1. However, a few misprints and special errors from the early mints do fetch high price tags. That said, the odds are good that Sacagawea coins will eventually increase in value.
