Amazon's paid service, Amazon Prime, offers several advantages to frequent online shoppers as well as video and music streaming. Creating an Amazon Prime account and selecting your plan are easily done, whether you already have an Amazon account or not.

Signing up Online

Hover your mouse over "Your Account." This is located below and to the right of the search bar at the top of the screen. It will open a drop down menu.Advertisement

Click "Start here." When the drop down menu opens, the first option is "Sign in" and "Start here" is located just below it. This will send you to the account creation page.
- If you already have an account, click "Sign in" instead and enter your email and password then skip down to Step 6.

Enter your personal details. You will be asked to enter your name, email, and password, then asked to confirm your password in various text boxes.

Click "Create your Amazon account." You'll fine it under the password confirmation text box. This will officially create your account and send you back to the Amazon homepage.

Hover your mouse over "Your Account." Look for it below and to the right of the search bar at the top of the screen. It will open a drop down menu.

Click "Your Prime Membership." Found in the drop down menu between "Your Service Requests" and "Your Garage." Clicking this will send you to the Amazon Prime account management page.

Click on "here" in the Important Message box. The Important Message box is located in the center of the page near the top. It reads "Your are currently not a member of Amazon Prime. Click here to sign up." Clicking "here" will send you to the Amazon Prime information page.

Click "Start your 30-day Prime free trial." Located in a yellow box near the top center of the page, clicking it will send you to a payment page. This will sign you up for a 30 day free trial that will then charge you $99.00/year for Amazon Prime. You can also select "See more plans" below "Start your 30-day Prime free trial."
- This will allow you to select from three plans, Prime Video which only allows video streaming and is 8.99/month.
- Prime (monthly) at $10.99/month which has all the benefits of Prime(annual) with the exception of a 25% prepayment discount.
- Prime (annual) at $99.00/year which gives you all the benefits of Amazon Prime.

Enter your credit card information. In the text boxes provided, enter your card number, the name on your card, and expiration date.

Click "Next." This will send you to the billing address page.

Enter your billing address. In the text boxes provided enter your address.

Click "Next." Located under the text boxes, this will send you to the confirmation page.

Click "Start your 30-day free trial." Located in a yellow box below your billing address, this will start your 30 day free trial. Your will be billed at the end of your trial based on the subscription plan you selected.
- If you did not select a subscription plan, you will be billed $99.00/year at the end of the 30 day trial.

Signing up on a Mobile Device

Download Amazon Shopping to your mobile device. The Amazon Shopping app can be found it the App Store if you are using an iPhone or in Google Play if you are using an Android powered app.

Tap "New to Amazon.com? Create an account." If you already have an Amazon account, you can sign in by tapping "Already a customer? Sign in."

Sign up with your mobile number. Enter your name, phone number, and create a password in the provided text boxes.

Tap ""continue. " Tapping continue will send you a text verification and send you to the verify mobile number page. You must wait to receive the text message with the verification number to continue.

Enter your verification number. Enter the number you received in the text message.
- If you do not receive a number, tap "Resend code."

Tap "Verify. " You will then be asked to read an information page about customer service messages.

Tap "Continue Shopping. " This will return you to the Amazon main page.

Tap the navigation menu. In the top left hand corner of the screen there are three parallel horizontal lines. Tapping these lines opens the navigation menu.

Tap "Your Account. " "Your Account" is between "Your Lists" and "Gift Cards and Registry." Tapping it sends you to your account information page.

Tap "Manage Prime Membership. " Under the "Account settings" heading, "Manage Prime Membership" is between "Your Allowances" and "Manage Your Content and Devices." This sends you to the Amazon Prime membership information page.

Tap "Start your free trial. " There will be a grey box marked "Important message" at the top of the page. "Start your free trial is located inside the grey box. Tapping it will send you to a splash page.

Tap "Start your 30-day free trial.' " Near the center of the page in a yellow box, this will automatically begin sign up for the $99.00/year plan.
- To select a different plan, tap "See more plans" at the bottom of the page.

Confirm your payment method and billing address. If something is wrong with either your payment method or your billing address, tap it to change it or add a new one.
