Scoliosis is a condition that causes the spine to curve in an unnatural way. If you have scoliosis, you will need to be extra careful about the way you sleep, as choosing a bad position can make your scoliosis symptoms worse. There are also a few things you can do to help yourself sleep better if you have scoliosis.

  1. The best sleeping position for people with scoliosis is flat on the back. This is a neutral position that does not cause any unnecessary strain or create any unnatural curves in the spine. [1]

  2. Sleeping on your stomach is very bad for your back if you have scoliosis. This is because the position forces the middle and lower sections of your spine to be straight, and your neck to twist. [2]

The most common types of surgery performed for scoliosis are decompression surgery, which is done to remove a disc or bone that is compressing a nerve, and spinal fusion surgery, which is done to fuse two or more of the vertebrae together, thus improving the shape of the spine.
