Transferring calls can be helpful in numerous situations, such as when you plan on being in an area with poor reception and want to receive calls at a different phone, or when you travel internationally and want calls forwarded to a phone with lower rates. In most cases, you can modify the call settings on your phone to have calls transferred to the phone number of your choice. However, if your wireless provider is Verizon, you must enable call forwarding by entering a short code sequence on your device.

      Tips

      • By default, all calls are usually set to forward to the voicemail box for your wireless provider. Before modifying your call settings, write down the voicemail box number displayed in call settings so you can set your voicemail service back up at a later date.
      • If you are trying to transfer calls from a residential or business line, contact your landline provider to receive specialized instructions and to verify that this feature is part of your service plan. The instructions for transferring calls on landlines will differ based on your service provider, telephone model, and landline telephone service package.
