Learn how to see the contents of a Snap you sent
PDF download Download Article

This wikiHow teaches you how to view your own outgoing Snapchat messages by saving them before sending them. Unfortunately, there is no free way to view an unsaved Snapchat message after sending it, save asking the person to whom you sent the Snap to screenshot it. If you're interested in seeing the number of Snaps you've sent, you can do so from within Snapchat's settings.

Ways to View Sent Snaps

  • If you have Snapchat+, you can replay your sent Snaps by pressing and holding on them in a chat.
  • The only free way to view a sent Snap is if you save it before sending it.
  • You can see how many Snaps you've sent by viewing your Snapscore on your profile.

  4. After tapping and holding for a second or two, a menu will pop up with a few options.
  5. This option has a star next to it, denoting that it's a Snapchat+ feature. Once you tap Replay , the Snap will replay. You can then screenshot the Snap if you need to save it for later.

FAQ

  1. 1
Can I view my sent Snaps if I download my Snapchat data? No, your Snapchat data doesn't actually have your Snaps. The Snap history in your Snapchat data is just a list of the people you've Snapchatted.
  2. 2
How do I rewatch a Snap someone else sent me? If you haven't exited the chat yet, press and hold on a Snap you received, then tap Replay to rewatch it. You can only rewatch a Snap one time. If you exit a chat, you won't be able to replay a snap. [3]
    • You can replay a Snap multiple times if you subscribe to Snapchat+.
  3. 3
Can Snapchat see your Snaps? Snapchat claims they don't scan or view your snaps or chats unless someone reports them. [4] However, it's very likely they could (and will) view and share your Snaps with authorities if subpoenaed by law enforcement.

Messages from Snapchat may be retrievable if the photos or videos are still on your phone (as nomedia files) and haven’t been overwritten. Alternatively, you may be able to use recovery software.

To replay a Snapchat photo or video, see How to Replay a Snapchat , which allows you to see the photo or video once more before it’s really gone. Alternatively, if it’s your Snapchat photo or video, keep a copy of it before you share it. If it’s someone else’s photo, take a screenshot (they’ll be notified) and keep the screenshot, or contact the other person for a copy of the original photo or video.

It may be possible to recover Snapchat photos and videos with the use of recovery tools made specifically to do this. You’ll need to search online for such a tool and read the terms and conditions carefully before trusting the download or app. Alternatively, if you were notified that someone took a screenshot, you can ask them to send you a copy of it. Finally, the photo or video may still be on your phone as a nomedia file, provided you haven’t overwritten the data yet. Check your phone’s instructions for finding deleted files, or search online forums for assistance related to your phone’s make if you want to recover the photo or video from the phone itself.
