Ingredients:
1 (750 ml.) bottle dry red wine, such as a Cabernet Sauvignon
¾ cup brandy
¼ cup honey
2 cinnamon sticks
1 medium orange, sliced into rounds
6 whole cloves
3 star anise
Optional garnishes: extra orange slices, cinnamon sticks, and star anise
Instructions:
1. In a medium saucepan over medium heat, combine all of the ingredients (except for the garnishes).
2. Bring to a simmer, then reduce heat to medium-low. Cover and let the mixture simmer for at least 15 minutes.
3. Strain and pour into mugs. Add optional garnishes.
