Reporter for Online Newspaper From the scandal at Town Hall to the chaos after Hurricane Burt, there wasn’t a single story that I wasn’t on top of this year. While I may be the new kid on the block, I have managed to retain and build an ever-growing readership due to undeniable, quality reporting. I was the first reporter to pick up on the misappropriation of retirement funds on the local level. I got the story first because a town official recognized me as an impartial presence, and contacted me personally with quotable, attributable, and vital statements. I spend the majority of my time in town, making my presence and name known. This has led to multiple news tips daily from residents who associate my name—and this paper—as a reliable source for answers. I have connected with multiple business in town by hosting office hours at their locations, where I then discuss current events, potential stories, and readability improvements for the site. Quarterly, I host mini workshops for bloggers and businesses who wish to learn more about how to physically navigate the site and the benefits of blogging for or advertising with us. I’ve also handed out flier and memorabilia at town-wide events in order to attract more people to the website. I’ve brought my news site from green and lean to a trusted resource that is overflowing with all the information readers need to make their lives better. I am proud of the work I have done this year.
