They try to get your crush’s attention
In a group setting, they might wait for your crush to respond or ask them more questions than others. Similarly, they may go out of their way to greet your crush.
Examples:
“What did you think of the movie, Charles?”
“I tried to say ‘hi’ to you yesterday but I guess you didn’t see me. So hi!”
They may be nervous or awkward around your crush
Watch for signs of nervousness when they speak to or in the company of your crush. They might trip over their words or stutter.
Examples:
“I, umm, well I wanted to invite you to come with us on Friday.”
“Would you want to come along as my—I mean, join us?”
They flirt with your crush
Watch for signs of flirting like excessive giggling, giving compliments, or saying suggestive things.
Examples:
“You’re so funny! Hehehe! You’ll have to teach me how to deliver jokes like you do.”
“You look really good in that color, just thought you should know.”
They talk about your crush
Randomly bringing them up in casual conversation is a sign that your crush is on their mind.
Examples:
“He kind of reminds me of Charlie, don’t you think?”
“Oh, remind me to send that video to Rachel, I think she’d like it.”
They ask about your crush
If your friend doesn’t know about your crush, they might ask you about them. If they do know, they probably won’t come to you for information (and if they do, they’re probably looking for drama).
Examples:
“So do you know anything about Caleb? Has he asked anyone out yet?”
“What do you think of Mary? Does she have a date to the dance yet?”
