Make her feel loved
Take her favorite things or hobbies into account and surprise her with a gift or a special outing.
Examples:
* Surprise her with tickets to see her favorite band live
* Surprise her with a romantic dinner date
* Send her her favorite afternoon snack at work
* Give her flowers
* Leave sticky notes with all the things you love about her in her car, around the house, or in a place you know she’ll see them
* Do pesky chores for her (e.g., pick up her dry cleaning, fold laundry, or get groceries)
Be affectionate
Physical gestures show that you appreciate her and like being close to her. But, if she isn’t the touchy-feely type, tailor the degree of your affection to her comfort level.
* Hold her hand
* Hug and/or kiss her randomly
* Playfully nudge her
* Playfully groom her
* Cuddle with her
* Give her a massage
Be yourself
Someone who is “too perfect” can be boring and come off as fake, which is unattractive. Be true to yourself when you’re together as it demonstrates trust and respect. It also encourages her to relax and be herself around you.
Examples:
* If you snort when you laugh, don’t hide it
* If you’re a messy eater, enjoy it
* If you like cheesy jokes, share them
* If you like dumb movies, talk about it
Support her interests
Take part in things that she enjoys to show that you care about her and the things that matter to her.
Examples:
“I’m so excited to come to your fencing match! Could I join you at the next practice so I can learn too?”
“I know you’re worried about Madison’s mom. How’s Madison doing? And have you heard if her mom’s doing better now?”
Offer help
Ask how you can help her deal with a tough situation. Avoid trying to fix things for her or giving unsolicited advice. Sometimes just being there to listen and validate her feelings is all the support she needs.
Examples:
“Is there anything I can do, hon? Even if it’s just a listening ear?”
“I’m really sorry to hear that. I understand how that would make you feel powerless.”
Do not ogle or flirt with other women
This will make her feel like she has to compete with other women and lead to insecure feelings. Show her that she’s the apple of your eye by focusing on her and her alone.
Examples:
* If you feel the urge to ogle another woman, check out your girlfriend instead and give her a compliment
* If she points out another woman, lock eyes with your girlfriend and say something like “You’re all the beautiful things I need”
* If a woman starts flirting with you, do not reciprocate and immediately introduce her to your girlfriend
* If you’re in a conversation with a group of women, be sure to include your girlfriend by asking her for her thoughts on whatever subject being discussed
