Braised Chuck Steak Recipe
Ingredients:
* 2 lbs chuck steak
* Salt and pepper
* 2 tbsp olive oil
* 1 onion, chopped
* 2 carrots, chopped
* 2 celery stalks, chopped
* 4 garlic cloves, minced
* 2 cups beef broth
* 1 cup red wine
* 1 tbsp tomato paste
* 1 bay leaf
* Fresh herbs such as thyme, rosemary, or parsley (optional)
Instructions:
Preheat your oven to 325°F.
Season both sides of the chuck steak generously with salt and pepper.
Heat the olive oil in a large Dutch oven or oven-safe pot over medium-high heat.
Sear the chuck steak on both sides until browned, about 3-4 minutes per side. Remove from the pot and set aside.
Add the onion, carrots, celery, and garlic to the pot and cook for 5-7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the vegetables are softened.
Add the beef broth, red wine, tomato paste, and bay leaf to the pot and stir to combine.
Return the chuck steak to the pot and bring the liquid to a simmer.
Cover the pot with a lid and transfer to the preheated oven. Cook for 2-3 hours, or until the chuck steak is tender and can be easily pulled apart with a fork.
Remove the pot from the oven and let it rest for 10-15 minutes.
Serve the braised chuck steak with the vegetables and sauce, and garnish with fresh herbs if desired.
