Hobbies and Interests for Recent High School Graduate a. Writing b. Reading I am fond of writing short stories and poems in my spare time, and have won several literary contests in pursuit of my passion. Most recently I was a high school honoree for the Torrance Art Councils Excellence in Arts Award. Here, I had the opportunity to present my poetry in front of Torrance City Council members. It was a wonderful experience, which has helped solidify my passion in literature: reading and writing creatively. I am also an avid reader of books ranging from works of fiction to philosophical publications. This year I accomplished a personal goal reading two books a month for the entire year. I feel that reading, as I do, only enhances my language and composition skills.
