I’ve seen some recent WRM articles that use “COVID 19” and not “Coronavirus.” I think it’s best if we stick to coronavirus and keep all the titles consistent, so it’s easier for readers to search.
I’m too lazy to place a title tag on all of them, so I was wondering if boosters/admins can help with page moving for now and the future. (There aren’t a lot)

I actually saw @JayneG
remove a title tag on a COVID-related article that resulted in it keeping its original title (which said COVID-19 instead of coronavirus), so I think there might be some reader data behind the scenes that could be affecting things here. Since only staff has access to that kind of data, I think we should probably defer to them on whether we should be changing titles or not.

I had actually asked JayneG about a COVID-19 vs Coronavirus title change, and she said that data actually shows people are searching more for COVID-19 than Coronavirus.

Hmm, okay. I’m just worried that it’ll be hard for readers to find articles, since some titles are coronavirus and some are COVID.
I agree that we should be consistent with the titles, but “COVID-19” should be used over “coronavirus”. In the early days when the pandemic was still considered a mere outbreak, the media used “coronavirus”. But now, COVID-19 is the more commonly searched one and is more prevalent in usage by the media and general public.
If you wanna be technical about it, some info for science nerds like me:
- COVID-19 = coronavirus diease 2019, the name of the actual human disease (CO for corona, VI for virus, D for disease, 19 for December 31, 2019 when it was first identified.
- Coronavirus = the family of viruses (classification)
- Severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 = aka SARS-CoV-2, the actual strain and pathogen responsible for the disease

I can totally understand why it’d be nice to have consistency - but unless there is an accuracy issue, I think we want to avoid changes to titles, like I mentioned in the recent Lab update
. I’d hate to make changes and then drop off search results so readers can’t find the articles at all!
