PDF download Download Article

This wikiHow teaches you how to trim off the beginning and/or end of a video on your Samsung Galaxy. Although there are many different Galaxy models and software versions, the video editor pretty much works the same on all phones and tablets. 2. Tap the video you want to trim.
  3. Open the video editor.
  4. Drag the left slider to the place where the video should start.
  5. Drag the right slider to the place where the video should end.

  1. It's the red icon with a white flower inside on the latest models, and a white icon with a multicolored flower on older models. You'll usually find it on the home screen or in the app drawer. [1]
  2. The video will open and begin to play.
    • If you're using a Samsung Galaxy S20, you can join multiple videos clips into a single movie before editing. Just open the first video, tap the film icon at the top, select additional video clips, and then tap Create Movie . When you're ready to trim the new movie, tap Edit Yourself to launch the editor. 5. It's the sideways triangle at the bottom-left corner of the video preview.

  1. 1
Open the gallery. Tap the red icon with the flower inside it.
    • With an S25 series phone, you can utilize AI to generate a highlight clip that includes scenes from multiple videos to share an event with others. This is very helpful if you have multiple videos of something that you want to condense into a quick video (like if you want to show off multiple videos of your cruise in a single video).
  2. 2
Tap ☰ . You'll see this three-line menu icon in the bottom right corner of your screen.
  3. 3
Tap Go to Studio . It's at the bottom of the menu next to a red icon.
  4. 4
Tap Start new project . You'll see this at the bottom of your screen.
  5. 5
Select photos and videos to add. You can also search "Albums" at the bottom to see the different collections of photos and videos you have. You can also "search" for specific images and select to see only videos.
    • Tap to select the photos or videos. You'll see a checkmark appear in the top left corner of the thumbnail when you select it.
    • Tap Done when you're ready to continue.
  6. 6
Tap the AI trim feature. It looks like a circle around a pair of scissors in the lower left corner of your screen.
    • AI will extract key scenes from the videos you selected to make a single video.
  7. 7
Select a version length. You have the ability to choose between a short and long version of the video. Select one and press the play icon to see a preview of it.
    • Tap the slider icon next to "Short" and "Long" to manually adjust how long you want the video to be.
    • You can tap the thumbnails under the preview to see where each clip is inside the main video and adjust them the same way.
  8. 8
Tap Apply . It's in the lower right corner and will open another editor so you can make more changes.
  9. 9
Drag and drop videos to change the sequence (optional). If one clip in the video makes more sense to be before the other clip, you can drag and drop it from the timeline.
  10. 10
Personalize it. Use the icons at the bottom to add text, stickers, and more to your video.
    • Tap the smiley face icon to add stickers. You can then drag the slider below the timeline to change how long the sticker stays on the video.
      • Drag and drop the sticker to move it around the screen, and pinch and pull your fingers to make it bigger or smaller.
    • Tap the < arrow to navigate back.
    • Tap the "T" icon to add text, then set the font, size, and color. Tap Apply to add it to the video, and drag the slider to change when the text appears over the video.
    • Tap the < arrow to navigate back.
    • Tap the brush with the line icon to draw on the video.
    • Tap the < arrow to navigate back.
    • Tap the music note to add music to your video.
    • You can adjust when each element appears on the video by adjusting the icon below the timeline.
  11. 11
Preview your video. Press the "Play" icon below the preview to see it in action, along with all of your additions, like text, stickers, and music.
  12. 12
Tap Done . It's in the top right corner and will finalize your video creation. You can tap Share movie to share it with others or Delete to get rid of it. [5]
    • Give your movie a name by tapping the default "Movie" name and entering a new one!

  • Question
Is it trimmed permanently or just this time and can I still view it in its untrimmed state?
    Wing Hong Chan
    Community Answer
You can still view the original video. In your Gallery, you will see your trimmed video higher up (because it is newer). The original video is kept around wherever it used to be in the Gallery.
  • Question
How can I take a middle section of a video but save the beginning and the end and fade them together?
    Avicii GB
    Community Answer
You would need a video editor app or software like Inshot or iMovie Maker. Then add as a transition to blend it.
